Early Life and Career
Jake Flint was born in 1985 in Holdenville, Oklahoma. His father, Douglas J. Flint, was a wildcat oilman who moved the family to Tulsa in the early 1990s. Jake attended Metro Christian Academy, where he developed his interest in music. He learned to play guitar and started writing songs at a young age.
Jake was influenced by artists such as Garth Brooks, George Strait, Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard. He also drew inspiration from the Red Dirt music genre, which originated in Oklahoma and Texas and blended country, rock, folk and blues elements. Jake described his own style as “country with a little bit of rock and roll”.
Jake released his debut album, I’m Not OK, in 2016. The album featured 10 original songs, including the hit single “Cowtown”, which reached the top 10 on the Texas Regional Radio Report chart. Jake followed up with his self-titled album in 2020, which included the singles “Long Road Back Home” and “What’s Your Name”. Personal Life and Death
Jake married Brenda Flint on November 26, 2022, at a remote homestead in Oklahoma. The wedding was attended by their family and friends, as well as fellow musicians such as Mike Hosty, who played at the reception. Jake and Brenda shared a passionate kiss in a photo that Brenda posted on her Facebook page the next day.
However, the joyous occasion turned into a tragedy when Jake died in his sleep that night. His publicist, Clif Doyal, confirmed the news of his death to The Oklahoman, but did not reveal the cause of death. According to Hollywood Life, Jake died of accidental alcohol poisoning, but this has not been officially confirmed.
