James “Bobo” Fay, one of the stars of the popular Animal Planet show Finding Bigfoot, shocked his fans when he appeared on the screen with a drastically different look in 2016. The former wrestler, who was known for his chubby physique and long hair, had lost a significant amount of weight and shaved his head. Many of his followers wondered if he was sick or suffering from cancer, as his weight loss and hair loss seemed too sudden and drastic. However, Bobo clarified the truth behind his transformation and dispelled the rumors through social media.
Bobo’s Diet and Exercise Routine
According to his Facebook post, Bobo revealed that he lost so much weight because of his change in diet. He had cut out soda, candy, pizza, and baked goods while trying to do an hour of exercise four to six days a week. He also stated that he did not have cancer or AIDS, as some of his fans had speculated. He wrote:
Getting a lot of messages asking me if I have cancer or AIDS (mostly from Midwest and south) because I lost so much weight. I just cut out soda, candy, pizza, and baked goods while trying to do an hour of exercise 4-6 days a week.
Bobo also explained why he shaved his head, which was not due to hair loss or chemotherapy, but simply because he was annoyed by his long hair blowing in his face in the wind. He said that he asked his friend Tin Tin to help him shave it, and that he enjoyed being unrecognized by most people in public. He wrote:
I shaved my head because it drove me crazy blowing in my face in the trade winds. I had Tin Tin shave it. I went through 4 major airports and only one person recognized me. It’s really nice and weird to not be getting recognized anymore.
Bobo’s Passion for Finding Bigfoot
Bobo has always been fascinated by the legendary creature known as Bigfoot or Sasquatch, and has been involved in the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (BFRO) since 2001. He joined the cast of Finding Bigfoot in 2011, along with Matt Moneymaker, Cliff Barackman, and Ranae Holland. The show follows the team as they travel across the US and other countries, investigating sightings and evidence of the elusive beast.

Bobo has continued his research and passion for finding Bigfoot even after the show ended in 2018. He has been commercial fishing out of Eureka, California, and performing any job that would let him know more about the creature.
